I've been having some problems with my DVD burner recently. I've looked all over for fixes, and I can't figure it out. Here's the deal...it will read already burned or real CD's and DVD's fine. However, if I put a blank CD or even a blank DVD in, the drive name changes from "DVD-RW Drive" to just "CD Drive." I've uninstalled all my virtual drives, uninstalled the DVD drive and the secondary IDE controller and restarted so that it installed them again. No luck with that. I've also shut my computer off, unplugged the IDE cable from the drive, booted up, shut off, plugged IDE back in and booted up...no luck. I've reinstalled Nero and no luck. I'm really frustrated with it and would really appreciate some help. THANKS

Lijiman, This may help.

Open My Computer, right click the Burner icon, Properties, Recording Tab and see if the box "Enable recording on this drive" has a checkmark.
This is very often the case when Burners can read but do not burn CDs.

What is the exact model of the burner? How old is it?
Have you done any updates of WinXp or other software?
What software are you attempting to burn with?
Have you got to the Lite-on support area?
Is there any software to diagnosis your drive at there website?
Have you installed any new software or additional hardware lately coinciding with the burner not working?Never say Never Romeo Void

I have tried using Memorex CD's and some offbrand DVD also.
I have already made sure that the "Enable recording on this drive" is checked.
I don't actually know how long it has been messed up so I don't know if any software that I recently installed might have done it. I've tried burning with Nero, DVD Decryptor, and DVD Shrink. I haven't contacted Lit-On yet, but I probably will soon. I don't know exactly what model it is because I'm on my work computer right now.
Thanks for the replies
