Product: Dell 8200
Comment:

I recently had a DVD burner installed in my Dell Inspiration 8200. The DVD drive will read Data and Audio CD's but when I actually place a DVD in there it says no disk in drive D. I have down loaded K-Lite Codec thinking it might be that but still nothing. I also down loaded AVS DVD player thinking it could be that but still nothing. I have taken the Burner out totally and re-installed all the drivers and software and still nothing. One guy told me to try http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_de... Will this solve my problem or does anyone have any other ideas of what might fix it or what is causing the problem.

XP,
Okay I will type it out again. Its
www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html. My buddy said it fixed some DVD burner issues he was having. I have also downloaded Roxio to see if that fixed the problem, which it didnt. The burner is LG and only like 4 months old. I should of made sure it worked before I left on deployment for 6 months but I didnt so now I am in the middle of the ocean trying to fix this..lol

"but when I actually place a DVD in there it says no disk in drive D". Are you referring to a blank DVD disk or to a movie on DVD?

Start --> Control Panel --> System -->
Hardware tab --> Device Manager Tab

From there I would Find your dvd drive, click the plus next to it, highlight and right click, Choose to "Uninstall" the dvd drive.

Next reboot. Your computer will find the dvd drive again and reinstall. Test your dvd again.

OtheHill,
I am referring to an actual store bought DVD. The light flashes a few times like its trying to read the DVD but then nothing happens and when i click on the D drive it says no disk found.

I had the same thing happen to an LG DVD burner a couple years ago. Never did manage to fix it.

I've also had two different model LG monitors pack it in, just out of warranty.

A google search reveals an enormous number of people have problems with LG DVD burners.

Obviously, there's a lack of quality control at LG.

I simply refuse to buy LG products anymore.

Largely Garbage

I did what you mentioned above and still nothing. I did notice that when i insert a DVD the little green light doesnt flicker as to indicate its trying to read the DVD. Its does light up when i insert a audio or data cd. is there anything else i can try?
