Hi all, I installed another cd-rom drive to this computer before finding out that the dvd player that had already been there need to be the master device... so I removed the other drive but for some reason my dvd player is still drive e: and did not revert back to drive d:

Also I noticed that my dvd playback is choppy now, I wonder if this is related?

Regardless how do I designate the drive to be d: again?

Start/Settings/Control Panel and then double click on the Admin Tools Icon, then double click on Computer Management, then choose the Storage option on the left, after that choose Disk Managment, right click on your CD/DVD ROM drive and choose change drive letter.

Laters,

I installed Win XP pro as a clean install. The computer (an old Gateway 200 mmx) has 2 hard drives.

Win XP insists that the boot drive must be drive letter E:. I can change the assignment of the other HD, the CD-ROM, Zip drive to any letter I want. But the boot drive cannot be changed from E:.

Anyone have an idea of why this happens?
