Dual XP Boot

Comment:
Need to eliminate my dual boot system so I can just set up a RAID system. Ok, here's the specifics.
I have a 20GB hard drive on IDE 1 and a Raptor hard drive on SATA 1. I also have a 120 GB external USB hard drive but that one doesn't present a problem. On the other two hard drives, I have Windows XP Pro. Because of this I think the slower IDE 1 hard drive is slowing my system down. It was the original hard drive so I assume it has the MBR located on it (I could be wrong).
Is there anyway to correct this situation and just have the Raptor as my boot disk and all without having to format and reinstall everything?

You can create a bootable clone using norton ghost or casperxp.

remove the boot.ini on your IDE drive, edit the boot.ini on your raptor drive and make sure that there is only one "[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=AlwaysOff" of that there in the boot.ini in your bios set it up so that you do not boot off of your IDE-0 or "hard disk" and have it boot to the SATA instead

Did you run it from the boot floppy? It's pretty fool proof from the floppy. I do at least 2 clones a week for backups.

Think the time I did it I ran it from the CD roms I had made. Not sure if I originally booted to floppy but I thought I did. Like I said, been awhile.
