Recently added new harddrive with WinXP Pro operating system. I left my old harddrive in place which has Win98 operating system installed. When my computer boots, it boots the XP os.
How can I attain the ability to choose between which os I would like to use whenever I first turn on the computer?
I am a true novice but have been told that this is possible and don't have a clue.
Detailed step by step instructions in novice language would be greatly appreciated if in fact this is possible.
Thanks for any help offered.

pu winXP Disc in at first, when the XP boots up select repair on the XP disc.
a command prompt should then appear like DOS which consists of a black screen anabling you to type.
windows XP repair function has special commands which you can repair these problems.
if you type in HELP a list of commands will appear. the commands you need are like fixboot, bootdetect and fixmbr. i can't remeber exactly of the top of my head.
type in fixboot (something like that name ur know when you see it) this will autodetect what Operating systems you have on ur pc. you will go through a number of proceedureslike selecting which drive to boot from.
then after the process select fixboot.
remember this is of the top of my head and is not 100% correct but will give you a slight knowhow.

I just went through this very same thing and this may sound funny, but after trying the windows bootloader and two other third party ones(which resulted in reinstalling two operating systems) I also tried the above suggestion and It would not see the 98 on the other hard drive. Then I found out that you need to install both of the OS on the same hard drive, on two different partitions(of course).Install 98 first then XP. I did it and now it works perfectly, I get the option at every start-up and restart. If you want to you can leave them on two drives and change which drive to boot from in the bios, but if you change often it gets to be a pain.
