in order to dual boot, you need to create and format your C: (Primary) partition, install Windows 98 to that partition, then install XP with the remaining Extended Partition/Logical drive. You cannot dual boot w/ Win98 AFTER you've already installed Windows XP. It has to be done in order...Win98, then WinXP.

konaboy is mistaken. It is possible to instal 98 after XP but only if XP is in FAT32 file system and not NTFS. Full details are available at www.dougknox.com You should also investigate PartitionMagic8 in regard to resizing your partitions. I've not ever used it but have seen plenty of posts on the forum from people who have.

Believe what you like konaboy but I've followed the Dougknox plan and know it works. Try it yourself. Msoft aren't the only people who know how to do things with windows.
