I currently have windows XP home edition installed on my computer. I wish to istall windows 95 OSR2 on D drive. Drive D is an actual physical drive, not a partition of C drive. When I boot with the windows 95 boot disk and insert my CD, it says that it is missing a DOS bootup section.

After it told me this, I went into F-disk and tried to set d:/ as the primary boot patition. it said that Fdisk can only create a DOS partition on drive C.

If I resixed my NTFS partition and put on a FAT32 on the unused disk space, would I be able to set this partition on drive C as the boot partition? or do I have to erase c: and re partition using Fdisk? I really do not trust Norton Ghost 2002, because when I did a drive change, it did not copy all files off of c:, it only did a partial copy. I had to Fdisk my whole machine and reinsall XP. Please help. Thank you

Have you tried to disconnect the XP hard drive ide cable and then install Win 95? Sometimes that will do the trick. I have always heard others say to install the older OS before Win XP. Hope this helps.

I will give this a try. If it works, that would be alot better than having to Fdisk and reinstall everything.

You should install win 95 first then install xp on the other hard drive.
Make both hard drives FAT 32,might ease things instead of making XP NTFS

I did this and it works great - install 98 first then install partion magic 7, setup up different partion and then install XP - It will boot up with a menu to go to either OS.
