I have a machine that has a dual boot option. Both options are Windows XP pro but one has certain applications than the other one. This machine has only one LAN Adapter. Each XP has a unique computer name. I was able to join both partitions to my Windows 2003 network. My problem is this. Afer I log in with my first XP partition to the network I cannot login to the network with my second partition. Like i mentioned before both partitions have a unique computer name, I have been able to logon localy to the machine on my second partition and found out that they both get the same IP address. Has anyone ever been in this situation? any help is appreciated.
Thanks
SAM

Off the top of my head I would say your ip has nothing to do with your domain logon.
But then I started thinking about DNS [assuming you are running AD]. I am not sure what the consequences of having two host entries, both with the same ip address but different names. I would also think that DNS is dumb in that it most likely looks at the first entry, doesn't find a match and returns with no name resolution. this results in no domain authenication. Are you getting domain not found or network is unavailable messages?
I would suggest static ip assignments for each OS boot and edit the corrisponding dns host and ptr records in DNS.
This is pure theory on my part.

Yes I am getting this error. "Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable or becuase your computer account was not found"
I thougt about doing that of putting a static IP but I have about 50 machines that are going to have this option for training purposes.
I will continue looking to see if I find a solution.
Thanks your for help anyways.
