I bought a new PC with Windows XP installed on it, but I don't have the full windows XP CD. I only have the recovery disk. I want to dual boot with Windows 2000pro. But, when I put the 2000pro CD in, a window appears saying that u cannot install an older windows version into XP. So, how can I dual boot XP and 2000? How can I install 2000pro in the same logical drive as XP? Is it possible to install 2000 into a new logical drive without "touching" XP? thanks

What I would do is partition the drive using PartitionMagic and create a dual boot system that way. Then it will appear to Win2K that you are installing on an empty drive (you will be).

I have a simular problem! I'm trying to do the same thing & I have installed Win 2000 on a seperate partition! Everything went great until I tried to boot to XP! It will not boot! When 2000 installs it overwrites the boot.ini thus 2000 will boot and XP won't. I've tried for the last two days to find a fix or a solution!

Let me know if you do!!
