I will be starting with a clean empty hardrive. Can someone tell me the best way to set up my machine for a dual boot of Windows Xp Pro and Windows 2000 Pro. I'm thinking of partitioning my drive and formatting both with NTFS. Would this be the best option? And which order should I do it in?
Thanks in advance
Paul

I run 98 + Win2000-pro + xp-pro, i would try XP first then 2000pro while your at it why dont you give yourself another drive for backup ( allways backup ) NTFS is better for security, just a bit harder to get rid unless you f-disk.
Good luck.

NO !! Install win2000 first !! Trust me !! Then try to clean install xp pro on "drive or partition of your choice" you will get this option during the first part of xp pro install. After you initially install win2000 use partition magic to create your second partition,I would go with FAT32 on both partitions, (I was instructed to use fat32 by a few "techies") I did and all works fine ! I have xp pro installed on two different hard drives, I can choose which one to boot too on my start up!! Its great !!!!!! BUT !!!!! I had to start with win98 to make this happen. The more research you do you will find that you must load the older version of windows (98, ME, 2000) FIRST !!

I was thinking of using FDISK to create the partitions first. Would it not be easier for me to use the XP start up disks rather than mess with win 98 as I want to do clean installs.
Cheers
