|Partition the HDD into at least two partitions. You'll then need to formt. If you want to be able to view the XP partition from 98, you'll have to format both as FAT32. The Microsoft formating tool has a false 32GB limitation, so keep that in mind when creating partitions. If you use the HDD manufacturer's software, you can create FAT32 partitions as large as you like.|
Once you've partitoned & formated, install 98 on C:\. After it's all setup, pop in the XP CD (do this from within 98) & wait for the disc to spin up. You'll be asked if you'd like to update...select ADVANCED & direct XP to install on D:\. The rest will proceed as a normal install. The Boot menu will be automatically setup.
