Will someone be kind enough to post their boot.ini file for a system that dual boots Win XP and Win 98. Thnaks!
Tony

I have me on c: and xp on d:
should be the same for 98.just change the
professional to home if home edition.[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"

Thanks, I see how that boots XP Pro, but where is the string for your ME boot? I need to figure out where that is as I need to edit my Win 98 string to remove an error.
Tony

To clear things up, my Win XP boot.ini file looks like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=25
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetectOn my first partition (1), Win 98 resides. Should there be a reference to it in the WIN XP boot.ini? I boot to Win 98 now but I have to use boot Magic to get there. What I would like to accomplish is getting rid of Boot Magic and being able to choose between XP & 98 from the boot menu. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tony

Microhard: That is not the answer I was looking for. This is not my machine and I am not sure how the Boot.ini file got like it did. I found a "strange" boot.ini file in the Win 98 root files (yes, it's in there). I believe XP was put on a partition that was not "active". So it probably was not booting into or pointing to Win 98 properly. I then believe Boot Magic was installed to take control. All I am looking for is a way to modify the XP boot.ini to have the option to boot into WIn98.

Added string in Win XP Boot.ini as follows:
C:\"Windows 98"
Removed "bogus" boot.ini in Win 98 root directory. Made XP partition the bootable partition. Disabled Boot Magic. Rebooted system and all is well as bootloader now gives me choice of both OS's. Thanks to all!
Tony
