Hello
I have a single 60 GB hard drive setup with one partition that contains a primary logical drive (FAT 32) [Vol 1 C:] that has Win 2000 Pro on it and a second extended partition that contains a logical drive (FAT 32) [Vol 2 D:] where the Win XP Pro OS is installed. Both systems function properly and I use the boot.ini to select the OSes at startup. No problems.
My question is can anyone tell me how to configure this setup so that when Win 2000 is running, that the second partition containing XP is not visible (i.e., hidden from the user)and visa versa? I know from reading other posts that Win 2000 and XP running from separate partitions make all partitions visible, but I would prefer to have only one visible at a time. Is there a way to do this?

You can use Partition Magic to hide the drives. Other than that there is no native support for hiding the drives within windows.

You want Partition Magic 7.0, a $70 program, available via Pricewatch.com for $30.
Go to Powerquest.com for instructions on how to accomplish your request.
Also, I advise to always make your second primary partition behind the 1st primary partition, not before it. This is the only flaw that I have found using these instructions that caused me about 20 failures of a different boot setup with PM 7, XP and XP.

While you could remove the drive letter via Disk Management, the drive would still show up in Disk Management (but not explorer).

To all of you who responded, thank you.
I tried hiding one drive thru computer management, but no go. The message I receive is "Windows cannot remove the drive letter of your system volume or boot volume." I will try to do it with PM. If that doesn't work, I think I will start over, ugggh, but I want a good dual boot system before I begin installing a lot of apps.
Thanks again
Paul
