I have a win xp laptop and a dsl conection ..i have recently bought a new router for sharing my dsl connection..previously i had an SMC router and the internet was working fine with it..but now when i connect it with a new router( tried with 2 new routers ) the laptop does not detect any connection to the router and doesnt connect to the internet.. i have the DHCP enabled etc ,.but cant think of anything else i could do...the funny thing is that if i connect the laptop back to the old router it starts working....if anyone knows what the problem could be please let me know..thanks a lot

Maybe your laptop is holding on to the old DHCP settings.
Bring up the command prompt and type:
ipconfig /release
then:
ipconfig /renew
I've never run into this problem before. Could you please repost if this solution works?

If the above doesn't work for you, try:
Power down you computer, router, and modem. Now, plug the modem back in, once it sinks up, power up the router, once the router cycles, turn on you computer.
