The problem could be because your service provider uses PPP protocol, which requires you to login to their private network. Call your DSL service provider and have them walk you through setting up a broadband connection.

ok it's esy. go to network connections or smethng, and click on create new connectoin. then select connect to internet. then manual configuration, then select connect to the internet using my broadband connection which requieres a usernme and a password. write your dsl provider. then your username, you password, then confirm your password, and finally i think it's on the last screen select "create shortcut to desktop". and that's all. tell me if it worked.

I had this same problem after upgrading to XP. If you are using Qwest DSL then I have a solution for you. Since Qwest is merge with MSN so rapidly, they failed to regard the new WIndows OS that has been released (XP). However, recently they came out with an update to the system that will allow your DSL to work. Check out Qwest.com and download the migration program. This program allows you to migrate the settings that are not immediately recognized by XP into the registry so that you may use your DSL. Enjoy.
