Whenever i'm on my Broadband connection I keep getting a pop up message which reads 'Network connection 2 Cable unplugged' and it keeps knocking me off the net, why do I keep getting this and is there anyway I can disable it without it disabling the dsl modem because the modem is connected to Network Connection 2.

You must have some line noise. Make sure dsl filters are on all the phones.

Did you set up a new connection in Network Connections New Connection Wizard for your DSL ISP? I think you should be using that connection rather than Local Connection 2.
