In the Internet connection wizard where it askes "How do
you want to connect to the internet?" the option 2
for "Connect using broadband connection requiring user
name and password" is shaded out and cannot be selected
(also option 1 to "Connect using dial-up modem"). The
only option available is the option 3 "Connect using a
broadband connection that is always on".I require option 2.
Does anyone know why options 1 and 2 are shaded out and
how to correct this problem?Thank you. Kent

Aware of the problem but unable to reslove it? Is this some little 3rd world DSL company that runs from an offshore operation? I'm sorry, I would demand to speak to someone that knows what the hell they are doing or find another DSL provider. I'm a dealer for a DSL provider. With there DSL modem they supply, you get a CD-ROM, you insert the CD, click next and next, up pops a box that ask you to insert your user name and password and all is done for you. Nothing more, nothing less. It's simple and works great. When any company, big or small says they are working to resolve it, that is not good. I know this one first hand. This is something they should have been prepared for. Ok, enough of the ranting.

This may sound silly but try turning off your modem first and try again. I believe I had to do that with mine. The XP "wizzard" must think it's always on just because it's getting signal when installing. As far as your DSL service helping, mine had a complete run down on how to get up and running. XP went a completely different route and did everything on it's own through the wizzard. There's really nothing your provider can do other than giving signal to your modem. No provider software is required with XP, KTTD.

what you do is go check in the connections section their should be an icon saying u have a modem or some kind of connection the you go from that connection using the buttons available when you click it.

Thanks, Rod. I had a serious brain fart on that one for some reason. Beer and computers don't mix, eh?
