DSL download speed slow

just got dsl and download speed suppose to be 3 mbps but am only getting 200 kbps. Surfing the net is fine but the download is horrible. i call company and company says becuz i am far away frm main office, download speed is slow. WHAT A BUNCH OF BULLCRAP ? anybody believe that ? . every types of download is slow and yes i also test out other websites to download frm and all same result. what can i do to faster my download speed ?any ideas ?

Oh yes, I can quite believe it. It is a well known limitation of DSL that the distance between you and the main office determines the maximum speed you get. Anything over 3.5 kms and the speed drops of dramatically.
