I've heard that in order to install a DSL connection, you don't need that app from your isp 'cause the PPPoE protocol is already implemented in XP. To set it up, you have to do those step (from XP's help):

Select network places,
right-clic,
properties,
new connection,
next,
"connect to the internet" , next
"set up my connection manually, next,
"Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and a password", next.

The thing is, this option is unavailable, and I don't have a clue on how to make it selectable. I can only select "connect to a broadband connection that is always on", all of the others are unavailable. I'm using build 2600, witch is suppose to be the real final version. Anyone can help me?

When you install your DSL device Windows should come up with a new hardware wizzard when started. If your modem is internal, or USB it should detect it and install the drivers. At this time Windows SHOULD automatically make a connectoid for your connection. If this does not work try uninstalling the device and reinstalling it.

Here's how my dsl connection works: I have an external modem witch takes the data coming from the telephone line, and then retransmit it to my network card. This way, windows only detect the network card and not the modem.

I have the EXACT same problem. My provider is TDS.Net, and their software is required to make a connection. When I install it, it says that the tcp/ip is not stacked to my NIC card (realtek RTL8139). I have tried everything, and TDS says it's the card, but microsoft says it's fully compatible, and it seems to be fine in my local area connections. Please let me know if you get this resolved, and I'll do the same :)

Ok, we have the EXACT same card, so maybe its the card. But the thing is, why is my "connect using a broadband connect that require a user name and a password" option is shadowed? Anyone have it available or could someone explain me why it is like that?
