Assuming you have IE Browser in which you have this "problem"

1. Click Tools>Internet Options....> General tab.

2. Scroll down to History Section:
Clear Histiory and make the days to keep history to whatever you like by the up/down arrow heads.

Use a program called CrapCleaner available here:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Download and install it and tick the 'User Assist History' box. You can set the program to run at start-up or you can have it so that you can right click your recycle bin and run from there.

Webroot's Windows Washer does this too. It also uses "bleach" which is where the program writes over the "cleaned" area as many times as you want ... not that you (or I) have anything to hide on our HDDs. After 7 overwrites, even the NSA can't recover what was there. It also erases the existing Index.dat file.

"how do u stop this to increase privacy?"

Pepanee, I took this to mean that Fred Helfmann wanted to increase privacy.
