When you first start the computer the POST screens that flash by before windows starts will give you a message something like this. "To enter the setup hit delete". Whatever the keystroke is just constantly tap that key until you are in the setup screens. The last dell machine I worked on used Delete key, I think. After you get in the BIOS screens read carefully. When exiting DO NOT SAVE. You shouldn't make any changes in the BIOS prior to learning about the BIOS. If you accidently do change a setting then exiting without saving will leave all the BIOS settings as they were before you entered. I suggest you read your manual. The manual should explain the meaning of each setting that can be changed.

The MS KB article mentions Easy CD, but other recording software may also cause the same symptoms.

Goki, If you bought it from Dell just 5 months ago...then it should still be under warranty. Call dell support and see what they say. I have a feeling that you are going to have to get the bios upgraded(flashed) or have to open it up to check your drive cables. Looseing one drive can be a lost path to the driver file but to lose both suggests it is in the bios or the cable.

Ok, first create a System Restore Point.
Then download the following fix:
http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
Unzip the cdgone.zip, and then right click the CDGone.reg and "merge" into the registry.
Reboot the computer.
You may have to reinstall any CD burning software you now have installed.
