Hi all. This is my first time posting. I have been getting IRQL errors for a week now, and these are the details of the latest one:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xFAA5CDC9)
NDIS.sys--Address FAA5CDC9 base at FAA4A000, Datestamp 3d6dec3.
When I reboot the computer, I recieve an error report from Windows. The technical details are as follows.
BCCode: d1
BCP1: 00000008
BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: FAA5CDC9
OS Ver: 5_1_2600
SP: 1_0
Product: 768_1I am currently running a brand new hp pavlion ze4600 notebook with Windows XP, and an AMD Athlon processor.
The only hardware installed is a linksys Wireless B Notebook adapter, connecting me to a home wireless network. I'm not sure if it is coincidental, but it has only crashed when I'm connected to AOL.
The software I have added to the computer is WinMX, a Windows Media Player update, and a DIVx download to view avi files.
The problem is driving me nuts, as the notebook is brand new. I know it must be a driver error, but I'm not excellent when it comes to more difficult computer debugging. How do I find the source of the problem and fix it? The guys at HP and Best Buy were of little help. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks in advance.
Jill

Well sounds like your having fun. A good place i found to get what those error codes mean is this: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
But ti will tell you what you already know, the name of your error is fairly self explanatory, That ndis.sys file is actually a windows sytem file that you ahve a few of, one comes witht he service pack, and there are 2 in your wondows drivers folders, all makes sence. Try Searching for the files with windows search and seeing if you have that file in any other areas, IE it may be in your wireless card driver folder. Depending on where you find it is what you do next.
If the problem stated fairly recently you can always do windows restore via > Start > Programs >Accessories > System Tools > And click on System Restore and you can go back before this happened.
If you find the file in a driver folder for somethign other than your basic windows folders then you might want to check in device manager whether or not your driver for that device ahs any IRQ conclicts, what that means is that 2 or more devices are trying to do the same thing at the same time, If so you might want to look into reinstalling your driver or manually fixing the conflict.
You may also try and use a program other than AOl and try and do some windows updates. Sometimes they have driver fixes.
And if all that doesn't work and you still get the exact same error the best thing to do is sence your computer is almost brand new Call HP and they might ahve a fix or they do ahve the power to send you a new laptop, Well hope this helps :)

Hi Jill,
It is a combo of your Linksys and WinMX, and there are a few comments on this issue in the big wide Internet world. Here is one such link:-
