I've experienced, twice, a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop error twice so far; but there were no common factors between these two, minus the.

Now, I know what an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error is, so spare me the explanations if you are like me and like explaining stuff, or were to explain the error for some reason. What I don't know is how to resolve this.

The two errors happened in a span of one week approximately. I believe it may be related to the audio drivers, which I had to uninstall and reinstall (using the driver on my mobo manufacturer's website; I use the integrated video) following an apparent mis-identification of the audio chip on Windows Update's part. (I have a Realtek card; the driver it installed was C-Media).

These are the most recent error's details:

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xF791BD92)

Could anyone aid me in resolving this?

Thanks,

0xF791BD92 is failing instruction addresss and I believe it is a device driver. Disable auto-restart. When your windowsc crashes, you will see the failing module at the blue screen.

What changes have been done to the system around when the error occurred?

Looks like a bad driver as the first priority unless you have added RAM that does not match to the modules already installed.
Look here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmd_stp_ottj.asp

and turn off "Automatic Restart" to get an official Blue Screen of Death. This will contain a lot more info and may even identify the driver - right mouse My Computer, then click "Properties" and the "Advanced" tab.
Open the Start/Restore GUI and deselect the Automatic Restart box.

Option B is download a demo version of Diskeeper 9.0 and fully defrag the drive.
A paging problem can cause this D1 error also.

Good luck.

I added RAM around christmas time (512 MB of Kingston Value RAM), though I've yet to get a BSOD other than those two.

Concerning the auto-restart, I have disabled this pretty much since finding out about it (before buying the computing I'm currently using, which is running Windows XP, I used a near decade-old Win98SE computer). What I have posted is what I believed to be relevant information at first glance at the Stop error; I may have missed something it appears however.

The most recent notable change I've made to my system shortly before the error began occuring was uninstall the audio drivers that Windows Updates installed, as after that the sound card was nonfunctional and media programs were giving me errors; I reinstalled the drivers available on my mobo manufacturer's website. I also updated my copy of The GIMP however I did this a day before the second Stop error so I doubt this is a factor.

I don't believe I've made any other changes, other than disable a useless startup entry through msconfig.

Are you using XP SP2 and how big is your power supply?

Have a look in Device manager to see if any hardware has a problem, you are looking for question marks or hardware faults.

I have had a simulate problem on my new computer, it was mainly because of ram incompatibly, XP SP2 installed and incorrect drivers that windows installed.

This may help, remove all hardware until you have a basic computer and test that, see if any more blue screen occur, if not continue to add more hardware until the blue screen occurs and if the blue screen still doesn’t occur you now know it is software problem, try playing around with your hardware updates, by updating them or deupdating them until you find the problem, also look for wrong drivers installed.

Hope this helps...
