"ok, i have gone to the website above and downloaded the driver,... and i do beileve this is what i need to get my sound card working,.. HOWEVER !!!!..
Even though it clearly says it supports Xp, and in the readme file it says to just run setup.exe for all OS but Xp,... now it tells me to go into the Xp folder and read that readme file,... however there is only a "system information" word file,... and its full of jibberish,... and when i run the setup for the other OS, it says the system is not sutiable for running ms-dos ?!?!

so how do i install this driver ? can someone download it and have a peak through the contents and PLEASE TELL me how to install this driver for XP

If that error message refers to autoexec.nt, you should have a spare copy of it in windows\repair that you can copy and paste into windows\system32. Then try running the main setup program again.

If that was the problem, scan for adware/spyware/viruses/etc, as they are known to delete that file.

This may not be the correct driver.

From the download agreement:

"We only manufacture chipsets for Mainboards/VGA cards, but do not assemble boards or cards for retail use. Retail board and card manufacturers often customize SiS chipsets' hardware and software to suit their particular system or configuration, so drivers on this site may not work for your particular system.
Your manufacturer is the best source of information for product information and support. We suggest you obtain technical assistance from your board or card manufacturer first before installing SiS drivers.

SiS does not guarantee the proper functionality of these drivers on your customized systems and we assume no responsibility for any problems occur upon the installation of SiS drivers."

I note that the readme in the download makes no mention of XP.

You need to go to your MOBO manufacturers site and get the driver from there.
