driver problem after XP reinstall?

just recently re-installed windows XP on my computer. now, im not able to find an internet connection. my system isnt finding an IP address when i connect the modem. my ISP mentioned a driver problem. any ideas?

Have you installed the motherboard drivers? That usually has the NIC driver on it.

I only inserted the Dell OS reinstallation cd and went through that process...is there something else i should have done?

I am sorry, I see you have a Dell, I cannot help you anymore. Queer setup on those things.
Go to the Dell website and have a look for instruction.

My Dell has the Symantec Restore partition that can be used by starting the PC and hitting Ctrl+F11 when it shows www.dell.com. This brings it back to how it was when you got it. It will already be activated.
Mine also came with the CD for Installing Windows XP along with a drivers CD.
So, on mine, I have two ways of reinstalling Windows.
If yours was the second method then go into Device Manager and remove anything that is not correct as is. Restart the PC and the first time it mentions anything about finding new hardware then insert the Drivers CD that should have come with it too.
You may need to point Windows to the folder of the specific hardware device it is wanting drivers for.
