I backed up my old laptop using driveimage before rebuilding it for another user. Now I need to get a key from the old registry.
Is there any way of finding that key other than backing up the new build, restoring the old drive just to find the key and restoring the new build again? Long process !
Thanks if you help.

From runtime.org's web page.
DriveImageDriveImage XML
Image and Backup logical Drives and PartitionsDriveImage XML is an easy to use and reliable program for imaging and backing up partitions and logical drives.
The program allows you to:
# Backup logical drives and partitions to image files
# Browse these images, view and extract files
# Restore these images to the same or a different drive
# Copy directly from drive to drive
# Schedule automatic backups with your Task Scheduler"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Thanks for the response but it hasn't helped me to recover the missing key at all.
I know Driveimage allows you to backup, restore and browse the resulting image file but where can I fing the contents of the registry and find the key? Or do I need to restore the drive image to do so?
I have successfully recovered a few file from the image so that worked fine but the Registry is a bit differenmt

You can load remote registries and cut and past keys.
