I installed and am using the free DriveImage XLM. I really like it. I have it on a scheduler that runs it at night. Most of the time it runs flawlessly but on occasion it fails. In the middle of the process it stops doing what it was designed to do. The logs do not give me any hint of a problem. RUNTIME SOFTWARE will not provide support to this free program. Don't blame them.
I suspect that one or more of the processes running (Task Manager....Processes) is interfering with the DIX program. Is there any command (batch file) that I can turn a process off and back on when the image operation is completed? Maybe I can determine the problem this way.

Disable MSoft Auto Updates and any other automatic updaters that may be running. Do you have defrag set to run automatically?

I think you would need to know what is running before you could block it.

See event viewer logs also.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
