Comment:

I reinstalled WXP after a crash and now the Drive letters are all over the place. I would like my 2 HD and 2 CD/DVD drive to be letters C,D.E and F respectively. Some of the letters are taken by the removable drive where most of them are on a card reader. I can work through the Disk Manager for the HD but I don;t know how to change the letters on the removable media. Help?

Right click "My Computer" and choose manage.
Choose manage drives.
Now you'll get a list of all the drives in your system.
Right click the drive you want to change the drive letter and choose change drive letter.
You may temporarily have to choose a drive letter not actually used, change the other wrong drive letter first and then change the temporarily choosen drive letter again.
WARNING: Don't change the Windows System drive letter or the drive letter, where the page file is stored on it.

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!

If the OS hard drive is not on C: then you will need to re-install after disconnecting the card reader and removing any removable drives like external or flash. You can't change the drive letter assignment for the OS partition/drive.

If the OS is on the C: drive then ALL the other drive letter assignments can be changed.

You perform that operation in Disk Management. Free up the low letters by temporarily moving any drives off those letters and up to higher unused letters. Then one by one assign the desired letter to each drive.

I agree with Othehill. Disconnect all external drives and reinstall.

I'm did not have to disconnect any drives. I used Disk Management and rescanned the drives. They then all appeared and I could go in and shuffle the drive letter around to the way I liked them.
Thanks guys,
