Drive can't find sector requested

This is strange, when trying to play some video files with Windows Media, I get the following message: "the drive cannot find the sector requested" But if I open the file with a different program, it plays fine. Any ideas what would cause this?

copy the file to another location to check the drive integrity. some video player play fragments of video files while other do a quick scan of the file first (like wmp). run scandisk with surface scan, backup important data and face the possibility of a dying hard drive.
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

I copied a file to a different drive and it worked. This is a relatively new drive. I tried running error checking and I got the message: "Windows was unable to complete the task" The drive is in an external USB2 enclosure. Could the enclosure be going bad instead of the drive?
