Short answer. NO

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.

Like the guy that had his computer set upto do unattended backups every night at 10:00 PM. The backups never happened and the admin couldnt work out why.

It turned out that the guy was turning his computer of every night before he went home still expecting the backups to happen.

Using up the life of your parts...

The age old topic that circled the web for years.

It it better to leave the system on, or shut it down everynight?

My feeling is just leave your computer turned on.. My PC has been turned on for about 3 years. Rebooted and shutdown for hardware changes of course..

There really is no hard evidence on either side of this..

I say if you wan't your computer to download in the middle of the night just leave it on.. you wont hurt a thing.. Besides. if a fan does wear out. Go to you computer shop and buy one for 4 bucks.. Or look on ebay and buy one for 99 cents.

I hope that you have XP Pro, because XP Home won't let you download with the PC turned off.

I've heard that when Longhorn comes out, you won't even need to have an internet connection at all, & certainly won't need to have your PC plugged into a power source.

There are 24 hours in a day, and 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?
I think not!

And just when I was sure that there was not 1 valid reason to upgrade from XP to Longhorn, now Dave comes up with 2 valid reasons. lol Maybe I'll have to take another look at Longhorn before 2008 when it comes out. hehe
