I am running XP Pro with AVG anti-virus software. This virus seems to be generating false alert messages to AVG.

I am looking for a virus removal tool for the DownloaderAgent.2.Q virus. I need one that will allow me to clean or remove all infected files from my drives and the registry.

It appears to have infected my IE browser and will not let me change my home page. I believe the site it is taking me to is continually re-infecting my system.

It cause the Microsoft "Recovered from a Serious Error" screen to continuously pop-up along with pop-ups alerting me that I have been infected by a Trojan Virus.

When I check the location of the files that it says are infected, I find they do not even exist. I have view hidden files already selected, but I think the messages are just bull.

I have also turned off my restore points, but it didn't help. I believe the virus has modified my registry, and recreates the virus even after removing the infected files because they keep returning after being move to the Virus vault and deleted.

Please provide a link to a tool that will remove this virus. It is very annoying...

gbulldog: there is a free trojan removal program with a small footprint called Swat It available at:

http://swatit.org/

after the download and the installation of Swat It is completed, you should update the File Signatures by clicking on the Update tab and check for an update.

and, if needed, try Trojan Remover on a 30-day trial from:

http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/details.html

to regain control of your home page, download the free utility StartPage Guard from:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/startpageguard.html
