I've sucessfully downloades iTunes and Yahoo! Messenger on my computer, but they won't open when I click on the icon. I tried uninstalling them, downloading again, and again, it won't open. Everything I download and then try to open has this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you saying that after you download the files and run the executable to install them, the installed programs themselves won't open? Or, are you unable to install them? I'm a little confused by your question, because you sayd you download them and they try to run them, THEN you uninstall them.. No mention of running the setup file for each program. candaceBG, sounds to me like you need to reassociate the files to select the proper thing to open them. It's possible that they can only be opened by some proprietary goodie. Look on the website they came from and see if it tells you what opens them and change things on your machine accordimgly.
If that doesn't do the job, take a look at what opens what @:

After I've downloaded it, I double-click to install. Then after I go through all of the set up, hitting next next, etc...it says "installation sucessful, you must restart your computer" (in some cases).
I restart my computer. Then I come back, double-click on the installed software icon, and nothing happens.
The little hour glass comes up, but nothing ever opens.
