I recently made a post about converting .ram files and realized that the files I had were just shortcuts. According to this site:
http://service.real.com/help/library/guides/realone/IntroGuide/HTML/htmfiles/ramfile.htm
...the .ram files I have are shortcuts used to stream .ram files from a server. Does anyone know how I could get the .ram files off of the server? It says that the .ram files are in an RSTP protocol, rather than an HTTP, but our browsers can't read that, so they use this file. Considering this, is it even possible to download them?I'm a Trumpet player, don't make fun of me...

if the site allows it, they'll have a link to download it. if not and you want it bad enough
get snagit and it'll copy anything on your screen , streaming media is copied as .avi
(you just have to size the recording area)
if you can choose windows media player, right click anywhere in the plaing video and choose properties.
copy the location and paste it in address bar in ie.
then "save media as" after it loads in wmp 9.
not sure about wmp 10.

you can use a software called RM recorder to download the streaming ram files. Search on google ull find it easily.

Here's the easy way...
Right-click on the .ram link and save it to your desktop. Then go into folder options and set windows to show file extensions. Now change the extension of your downloaded shortcut from .ram to .txt
Now open up the new text file and you'll see a URL that should end with .rm
Paste that into your download manager and bada-bing....you've got the file :-)

Oh yeah, and if you get lumbered with an RTSP URL in the text file, use Hi-Download as your download manager and it'll DL just fine.
