can someone please guide me step by step on how to downgrade my windows vista home premium to a windows xp home edition. when i insert my win xp disk it doesnt let me install it. later i learned that i first need to uninstall vista and save my files before i do. so can someone tell me how this is all done. any help is appreciated, thanks.
Please let me know if this worked, as i am sure a lot of other people might want to do the same thing.

From previous OS installs you could ONLY downgrade if you upgraded AND selected to backup/save the former OS. This is a step most forget to do so the results were the same as if it were not an upgrade.
Wipe the disk and reinstall from scratch.

um its not letting me format the drive. i go to my computer. i right klik C: drive and then klik on format. then a window pops up and says I cannot format this drive: it contains the version of windows that i am using. Formating this drive could cause the computer to stop working. How do i format my drive?
