Compaq Presario F500, downgraded to xp and having problems finding drivers. Everything is setup for vista. Here's what i need http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...
and here's what i can get http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...
anyone have any ideas? Thanks ~Gavin

you won't find the drivers.
i have a simular computer, tried the same thing.
but, i like vista immensly.
gonna keep it.

Presumably, by looking at the links you have provided you are expecting the people here to sort out what you need? Perhaps you should have been more specific in what you wanted!
Have you got any sort of backup in case your conversion fails through lack of drivers?
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

sorry i was vague, but i just don't see the drivers available in xp form. i'm seeing the same problems elsewhere too. problem is i can't even get any networking drivers

The very first link you provided has several Network Drivers, all but one of which predate 2007 (Vista roll-out year), and all but two have previous versions... so, you are asking us to do what for you exactly?

oh s--- i realize the first link is wrong... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/... this is what it should be.

What exactly do you need? The video & chipset drivers are available from nVidia. The audio driver is available from HP thru the 1st link you posted. The touchpad drivers are available thru Synaptics. The LAN drivers are available thru Broadcom. etc, etc, etc.
I think your problem is you expect to find all these drivers at the HP website.

Just to clarify above and to other downgraders, most manufacturers of OEM PC's/Laptop's do not want to list drivers for XP.
As the components are supplied by 3rd parties, most if not all drivers are available from the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Both the following software will ID hardware:

SiWThis information ahs been regurgitated in these forums, hence why a search function is provided in each forum.

Without having any concrete proof I tend to believe the system builders either (1) are prohibited by M$ (through software licensing agreements) from offering such drivers, or (2) they figured it to be too cost-prohibitive to develop drivers to work with earlier Windows versions that will only invoke the wrath of M$ armies of lawyers.
The bottom line is that M$ controls the OEM industries. Either way learn to love Vista or look for alternative drivers.
