I recently installed the beta version of windows vista, however, i want to downgrade back to xp home. But when i put the xp disc in, it pops up and will let me click everythng but install now. So i tried to to a CD boot... The screen loads up and says Boot from CD:...
Press any key to boot from CD:
So i press a key and then the screen just goes blank? ?Has this happend to anyone before? Wether or not they had Windows VISTA? How would i solve this?
please let me know! It is going to be sad to see Internet Explorer 7.0 go though, it has a lot of nice features.
Anyways, please help.
Thanks.

The fastest solution is to "wipe" the disk and start over.

Not only the fastest solution, it is the only solution.

You cannot downgrade any version of Windows without wiping and doing a clean install. That applies when going from Windows XP Professional to Windows XP Home even.

Windows XP has no knowledge of Windows Vista therefore cannot possibly do a downgrade.

I haent seen the beta but, if you upgraded there may be an 'uninstall/remove Vista' in the add/remove programs the way XP/Whistler was.

Bill Gates bought Apple? I certainly hope you're shooting for some humor there because if you really believe that, I'm a bit worried.

Regarding the beta, give me a break. I've installed and run the Vista beta and it's pretty nice. Why would Gates laugh at the beta testers? You realize they get the beta builds to test Vista for free, right? And you know that some of the most prolific testers get a full version of Vista for free when it's released?

Oh, you didn't? Dear me.

I'm having the same problem Ledzeplinboy. How do I "wipe" the disk and start over?

My computer can't load the installation disk on startup.

VERY IMPORTANT ABOUT INSTALLATION OF VISTA BETA 2!!!

Don't use boot installation. Disable the boot start, because if you do not do that- after the removing the CD from the DVD ROM- it will lock the Windows. The normal way is to see that you have 2 OS at the startup. Choose windows. Do upgrade from XP but DO NOT DO clean installation!!! And after that.... enjoy! :)
