double problem on start up

on start up when trying to start from IDE-0 i get "NTLDR is missing" when booting from a boot floppy disk i get "Disk I/O Error" dont tell me to format because im only trying to get into this computer to get very important files, also would it be possible to put this hdd into another computer safely, without the fact that there is an os installed on it messing anything up
