I have identical double icons on my desktop, when I place one shortcut only. If I delete one, both icons are deted. How can I correct it? Someone said, there are two desktops on my computer, but I don't know how to delete one.
Please help. - Thanks in advance.

that IS strange. No you dont have two desktops. You may have different user profiles with a different desktop for that perticular user. Try adding and removing the shortcut icons on your desktop through your user profile. go to c:\documents and settings\your profile\desktop and throw them in there and see what happens. There are 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary, and those who don't.
You will need to edit the registry as follows Start - Run - Regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell FoldersModify/Create the Value Name [CommonDesktop] according to the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_SZ [String Value] // Value Name: CommonDesktop
Value Data: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DesktopExit Registry and Reboot
Hard lessons learnt are not easily forgotten.
