Solved Double click in My Computer opens Search box- not the drives

December 30, 2011 at 11:38:13
Specs: Windows XP, i5 Quad 2.8GHz / 3.5gigs
When double clicking on "Hard Disk Drives" and "Devices With Removable Storage" a separate "Search" window opens instead of the selected drive opening. Just recently when right clicking on the drives to get the drop down menue, the top option is "search". If I click on "open" (the second option), then the drive opens. This has only come about in the last few days and I have not knowingly changed any settings.
I also have a problem in that when opening Internet Explorer from any eMail link, it opens in "Normal Window" instead of "Maximised" as I have it set in the properties. It opens full screnn from the desk top.
Hoping you can help
