Dos program to unzip the GZ files

Dos / Dos
September 15, 2009 at 20:18:34
Specs: Windows XP
Requirement Details:
--------------------
PART ONE:
---------
I need a Windows script that helps me in unzipping the files:
NEW.PROD.RW9210M.CLI561.WK0933.DELTAIND.001.GZ
NEW.PROD.RW9305A.WK0933.LINK019.PRACTICE.001.GZ
NEW.PROD.RW9305B.WK0933.LINK019.AMAPROF.001.GZ
NEW.PROD.RW9305C.WK0933.LINK019.DRSTATUS.001.GZ
NEW.PROD.RW9305D.WK0933.LINK019.SRCESUPP.001.GZ
and post unzip activity the contents have to be loaded to a different folder/directory named 'Src_Folder'.

After unzip the file looks like the following:
NEW.PROD.RW9210M.CLI561.WK0933.DELTAIND.001
NEW.PROD.RW9305A.WK0933.LINK019.PRACTICE.001
NEW.PROD.RW9305B.WK0933.LINK019.AMAPROF.001
NEW.PROD.RW9305C.WK0933.LINK019.DRSTATUS.001
NEW.PROD.RW9305D.WK0933.LINK019.SRCESUPP.001

PART TWO:
---------
The script should also simultaneously take this file names after unzipping and load the file name to another file.
For example:
After unzipping the file NEW.PROD.RW9210M.CLI561.WK0933.DELTAIND.001.GZ in to a folder named 'Src_Folder' we have to read the filename (say NEW.PROD.RW9210M.CLI561.WK0933.DELTAIND.001) from the 'Src_Folder' and overwrite the same in to another file in the same folder src_file_list_DELTAIND.lst. So finally when we look at the contents of the file src_file_list_DELTAIND.lst in the Src_Folder it should be NEW.PROD.RW9210M.CLI561.WK0933.DELTAIND.001.

First, DOS won't do anything with file names like those.

You will need a command line gzip tool.

Hi M2,

Please elaborate on 'command line gzip tool' as I don't understand what it exactly means?
Let me brief you about the scenario.....We had UNIX scripts performing the tasks earlier but now we are completely eliminating these scripts and replacing the same using equivalent Windows scripts. Finally this has to be executed using Informatica 8.6 tool.
Thanks and regards
Mano

"executed using Informatica 8.6 tool."

I have no idea what that means.

What I mean by gzip tool is one which can be scripted. Like PKUNZIP is used for ZIPs. So first you need the tool and a knowledge of the syntax. Then, with a little luck, a script can be written.

Hi M2,
Well thanks for your assistance, in fact I would request you to help me with this:
I am in need of a dos/batch script that helps me zip the files that have an extension .001.head and store the same in a folder named 'Archive'.

Thanks and regards
Mano
