not able to map a lpt printer port on a winXP or 2000 client computer user is a in a power user group of the local computer when trying to map the drive the printer server asking for authintication

Have you tried authenticating yourself to the system? You haven't described the problem very clearly. Why do you want to print through the command prompt (DOS) anyway?

Finally I found the solutino Exactly my problem was i m unable to print from DOS to a nw printer the LPT1 port is not been mapped with the command net use lpt1 \\servername\sharename because my user is having power user rights in the local PC he shud have to be in a admin group which doesn't allow in my nw policy so i have tried with mapping to LPT2 its working fine in this only difference is this when i give print command i have to give type filename >lpt2
