Digging though old boxes in my basement I found alot of my old DOS games like Aces over europe and pacific and I got the fever to play them again. But after trying everything I can think of I can't get any of the games to run on XP. I can get the games to start but if I hit any button I get dumped back to desktop. I got tie fighter to run great by just disabling emulate joystick, but this was no go on the aces series, any help would be welcomed. Email or post it here

XP runs something called ntvdm (virtual DOS). True DOS accesses your hardware directly. NTVDM doesn't access the hardware directly. Most of those old games are programmed to access the hardware directly such as Noctropolis.
I don't use them, but I believe there are DOS emulators out there. Else, you can use VMWare and run DOS to play them. Else, you can reformat and Dual boot DOS 6.22 and XP. Frankly, I think it's more work than they are worth.
I dual booted 98 with XP on this machine, and some of the old games I load are just crap :P

The best way would be to make a small fat 16 partition and use a boot disk that really boots DOS. It won't even "see" the fat 32 or NTFS partitions...
