i created a dos boot disk so i can play my old games..the only problem i am having is getting enough free memory to run programs...i only have 468K free and need 560+ free..... currently my files=35 and buffers=40.....where should i set them? i have cd drivers, mouse drivers, and ZIP disk drivers in my autoexec and config.sys, because i have an NTFS hard drive and wish to run the games off ZIP disks. any suggestions for new FILES and BUFFERS values?

Hi, Once you are logged on Dos, you could use MEMMAKER command, it will optimize your memory usage. It also gives you a report so you can see which programs went into the High Memory area so as to free up memory for your game. It is worth a try!

memmaker won't work because you need to reboot so that the changes take effect & you would be right back to your 98 boot disk configuration
use a boot loader from partition magic or similar & make a dual boot with dos on the 2nd partition
