How did you install Windows 7 initially? As stated above you need to format the partition and that will cause you to lose all your programs and personal files. Are you sure you want to do that?
If you have a WinXP FULL EDITION CD you can boot to that to install WinXP.
If your BIOS settings allow you to run your SATA hard drive in an IDE mode you can install XP directly from that full version CD. WinXP doesn't have SATA controller drivers included so you can't run the drive as a SATA hard drive unless you supply the SATA drivers. That may be more trouble than you want.
I suggest you stay with Windows 7. The learning curve is not that steep. You can make 7 look and act a lot like XP. Windows 7 is a better OS and XP is barely supported by Microsoft anymore.
You state the graphics card is not compatible with Windows 7. Does that mean we are not working with an Aspire x1300? If not, post the computer model and the graphics card model.
BTW, why are you posting about Windows 7 & XP in the Win95/98 forum?
