Comment:

For various reasons which are too complicated to exolain, I need to change the name of my Documents and Settings folder. At the moment in the folder properties the location is: C:\Documents and Settings\NA.
I am not sure how the "NA" got there but they are my initials. Anyway I need to get rid of the "NA" and return the location to
C:\Documents and Settings. I have tried right clicking on the folder but there isn't any option to rename. can anyone please tell me how I can return the folder to its correct name Thank you.

You may need to reboot for it to take effect

Just to clarify...

Bob's suggestion will work for any user accounts other than default adm account that you set up when you first installed XP. The only way to change it is by reinstall XP.

Thanks very much for your very quick replies.
I am afraid I fell at the first hurdle. I right clicked on My Computer and then on Manage but there was then no mention of Local Users or Users so I could not get any further. I did look in the Control Panel - User Accounts and I am down as the Administrator (as Noel rather than NA)and the Guest account is shown as off. Any other ideas please?

There is nothing further to suggest. Read my post above. It is by design.

but of course not ... not in XP Home.

Thanks for the above. Is there any way I can rectify the problem without having to reinsatall all my programs again? For instance, would a repair (rather than a reinstall) be effective please.
