Hi!

I was deleting a lot of unnecessary files on my computer, and I came across four folders named:

I3YFQZWX
J5DUV358
SL65ANO9
6BOHWVAJ

I erased them, but I noticed that I got a message when deleting them that said "These are system folders, are you sure you want to delete them?". Instinct told me yes, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have. They were all empty except for one that just had one file. I guess long story short... must I restore them back? (They are still in my recycle bin). Thanks!!

Personally, if they're not taking up any space, and they're system files, I'd restore those since they're still handy, unless you wanna risk deleting them and doing a system restore if anything goes wrong.

Just to add, if you really do want them gone, just keep them in the recycle bin for a while and if anything goes wrong they'll be there. And if you wait a few days and nothing goes wrong, you probably don't need them.

I think these 4 folders are used to contain the temp internet files. If you run disk clean up, these folders will get emptied.
Hope this helps

The world is full of willing people, some are willing to work, others are willing to let them; just a thought!

Those folders are related to IE. Under '98 I had no trouble trashing those folders. They just kept returning of their own accord. Now I don't bother with them. Just have Ccleaner do it all for me.

If they are located under C:\Documents and Settings\Current user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5, yes then Demonking is correct in his assumption.

They are better/safer removed from IE. Tools->Internet Options->General Tab->Delete Files.

If they are located elsewhere, they may still be the location for Temporary Internet Files, if you have moved that folder.

If they were as suggested by Nigel then they control your IE browser cache. You may see some internet slowdowns without them.

Thanks Everyone!! I went ahead and restored them since they really never affected my computer. I guess I just got suspicious because of their weird names. Have an awesome day, and thanks again for all of your advice!!
