When you are ready to upgrade to Vista, do as M$ says in this push.

For myself I will expatriate until Vista SP9 (at least)

M$ must be desperate for our dollar/pound/euro. First they have asked 1,000 temps to take a week off from work without pay. Now they are pushinbg us to buy the pricer Vista version. Do as M# say while I am exploring Linux ...

I'm going to say something unpopular here: the extensive range of Vista versions is a good thing.

the XP Home and Pro distinction was too basic.

For many home consumers, XP Home had too much and was too complicated.

Yes, it will end up messy with all these versions, but it's more choice for the consumer. That makes a change for M$

Wonder if "premium home" stil means no domain membership and limited to 5 connections.

Whatever they're going to do they're going to do. Same as GM, Ford, Verizon or whatever. Constantly posting on what's supposed to be an XP help forum is not going to change anything. Get off this crap for a change will ya.

I am wondering if vista is going to be compatible with symantec software with all that firewall and other useless software that comes with it. I hope that they come out tweaks on the web when this sucker comes out. I will be the first in line to buy vista prem. I do hope that it will detect sata drives also.

Probably looking for ways to offset the lawsuit Symantec have brought against them. Anyone know if Symantec were successful with their injunction to prevent the release of Vista?
