Hey to all. I've read the archives and most of the topics have been SIMILAR, however, not EXACTLY like mine.

I am first of all not very computer literate and I'm hoping that you guys can offer some type of support/advice. I'm a college student and I'm connected by way of a LAN. I've heard the Tech Support people talk about a DHCP or something like that, but my problme is I'm not able to connect to the Internet nor use any of the Messengers (Yahoo, AIM, MSN)...INternet Explorer tells me of a dsnerror or something like that. I've tried everything from checking other ethernet cables, to getting a diagonsis of the system. I got a DNSServerSearchOrder (FAILED) when I did something in the command box. There were three IP addresses and all but one PASSED. I'll let you all digest that first because I have so much more to tell, but I don't know what to tell...just ask me questions and please let me know if you all can help.

thanks so much!

Have you checked ur DNS server addresses? Check ur connectivity to the internet and confirm whether you have mentioned the correct DNS address in the IP Address properties box. I hope it helps.

That sounds like something that I've not yet tried, however, I honestly do not know how to check the DNS Server addresses OR how to check connectivity to the internet. Even if I did check the DNS Server addresses, I would not know what to do next (ha ha).

I know, I know--I'm not too quick when it comes to understanding computers, so please just bear with me (ha ha).

Please explain more. Thank you so much for replying.

Just checking back with you all to see if anyone has any suggestions. I've been on the phone with Gateway for the past two weeks and they keep giving me the runaround. I'm still under warranty for another month I believe so what do you guys think I should do? I've done completely EVERYTHING that I could think of...I was hoping that someone would have some advice based upon experience.

Thank you in advance!
