Specs: N/A

Hi all, How can we find the DNS server details of a remote system by using IP address or Computer name. Here, DNS address may be one or more+ in a single LAN network for various purposes.

Log on to the remote computer, using telnet or ssh, and use the appropriate commands to list networking details (which depends upon the operating system on the remote computer). With a remote Windows machine you may have to access the registry remotely to get those details. Alternatively you can use the SysInternals program psexec to run a remote command.

It's difficult to give exact details as you don't say what operating system is on the local and remote computers and what level of access you have to them.

I'd be interested to know why you want this information.

Hi Jack, Thanks once again, For Windows OS only I am asking. But, I done all those things logged on to the remote system through RDC. I can take all those things by logging on to that respective through Remote. But, I should not want to log on using RDC. I have to take the details of the other systems from one place. I don't want to roam or to disturb the users, for this purpose, and also the systems are not in one compound, and we are using wireless LAN upto 50Kms. also.

Use psexec to run the ipconfig command remotely. This won't impact on the users.

See http://ss64.com/nt/psexec.html

Yeah, Using PSexec is the thing (Telnet will be a bit too much for this purpose)

The best thing is you can load up list of the compute or use a range of IPs to scan and then run the command, give output on either console or re-direct to a text file from where you can filter out the results in the way you want.
