When loading pages in Firefox, my internet connection dies. Sometimes if I just let the pages try to load, it wakes up again, after some time.

I don't notice this in IE that much. Facebook always seems to make Firefox loose connectivity. Or opening up too many tabs will do that.

WHY? I'm guessing its a DNS issue? Although I'm not literate enough to know. I've reinstalled firefox and it worked fine for a few days, then started doing the same thing again. Any issues with extensions maybe?

Rane3, pure SWAG, could it be that your index.dat file has gotten so large it's slowing things down? Unless purged periodically, it can get HUGE! The easiest way to keep it a manageable size that I've found is to periodically run CCleaner (free @ http://www.ccleaner.com/). It can purge the index, dat file.

Nice guess, although I don't think that's it. I run a cleaner too often for the index.dat file to get large. Thanks though.

Rane3 what you describe is not a dns issue. Name resolution doesn't seem to be your issue but intermittent internet connection.

Make sure you are virus and spyware free.
Run disk cleanup and defrag your drive

After this run ipconfig /all and post it here. Describe how you are physically connected to the internet.

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

Wanderer, thanks for giving my problem a proper name ;)

Also I seem to think this is a Firefox issue, as it doesn't appear the IE has the same issues. Like I said in my first post. Facebook almost always causes Firefox to stall, although in IE its fine.

I am virus and spyware free AFAIK. Norton and Spybot came up empty.

I'm on a wireless connection through a linksys router and a dynex wireless PC card.

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Dynex Wireless G Adapter #2
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-x-x-x-89
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 207.69.188.185
207.69.188.187

PS: I posted previously about my laptop also having connection issues to the network, although those I think are specific to the laptop. It wont connect unless I manually enter its IP info, which is fine with me. I also have this machine off DHCP.
